Penn Cambria School District has been awarded funding to secure approximately 675 laptops for student use at home through the FCC’s Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF).
The ECF is a $7.17 billion program that will help provide relief to millions of students, school staff, and library patrons and will help close the “homework gap” for students who currently lack the devices they need to connect to classrooms. Congress authorized the Emergency Connectivity Fund as part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
If your household is struggling to afford internet service during the COVID-19 pandemic, you may be eligible for a monthly service discount through the Emergency Broadband Benefit. www.fcc.gov/broadbandbenefit
If you are the parent or guardian of a Penn Cambria student that needs a laptop at home to help close the homework gap and to work on school-related activities, please complete the form below.
There are no income eligibility requirements for this program. The device will remain the property of Penn Cambria School District and is intended to be used by the student at home for school-related activities. If the student graduates or withdraws from Penn Cambria School District the laptop must be returned to the district on or before the student’s last day.
The laptop will be inventoried electronically. If the device does not connect to the Penn Cambria inventory system you will be contacted for a physical inventory.
Please complete a new form for each child for whom you are requesting a laptop. Note that completing this form does not guarantee you will receive a laptop. Quantities are limited. We anticipate laptop distribution to occur in the next several weeks. You will be contacted by email or phone with regards to your request when we have specific distribution information. A parent or guardian must be present to pick up the device.
We hope this program will serve as a valuable resource for our families.
