According to Penn Cambria School District policy, a student who is failing a core subject MUST satisfactorily complete a summer school program in order to be promoted to the next grade. This year Summer School is not only offered to students with failing grades in a core subject but to students who earned a C or D in a subject. These students can choose to take a Summer School class to improve their understanding of the course. More ... Written Excuses Required
All student absences are treated as unlawful until your child’s school receives a written excuse explaining the absence. This excuse must be given to the school office within three days of the absence. Call the school office if you have a question or concern about your child’s absences and excuses required. Accelerated Reader
The Penn Cambria Middle School is continuing the Accelerated Reader (AR) this school year. AR is designed to encourage students to read and to become better readers. Each student is required to earn points each grading period for the books they read. Accelerated Reader points will then count as a portion of the students' marking period grades in Language Arts. Questions can be addressed to your child's Language Arts teacher or to Mrs. Jeanette Black, Curriculum Coordinator. Save those labels!!
The Middle School is once again collecting Box Tops for Education and Campbell's Labels. Both of these companies contribute money or supplies to our school depending on the amount of labels or box tops we collect. Students can bring the labels into the school office or give them to Mrs. Boutiller. Be sure to join Box Tops for Education Booster Club.
