GOALS
  • At least 45% of all students will be proficient in Mathematics, as measured by the annual state-wide PSSA assessments.


  • At least 54% of all students will be proficient in Reading , as measured by the annual state-wide PSSA assessments.

  •    Teachers will receive training in Differentiated Instruction, Multiple Intelligences and Learning Styles

Teacher Induction Plan Goal
  • First year teachers and educational specialists will function more effectively and gain professionally during their first year in the teaching profession.

Teacher Induction Plan Strategies
  • Inductees will be assigned mentor teachers with whom they will meet weekly.  Each will keep a journal.
  • Inductees will observe their mentors and other experienced teachers at least twice per semester.
  • Inductees will complete the five day teacher induction program offered through  IU8.

Special Education Goals and Strategies
  •   Goal 1:
  •    The percentage of students with disabilities performing below basic on the PSSA will decrease by 10% annually.

Strategies for Goal 1
  • Special ed staff will use curriculum mapping , participate in co-teaching arrangements, and receive on-going support and training in direct instruction.


  • Special ed students will be provided with tutoring opportunities.

Goal 2
  • Special education staff will be better prepared to meet the needs of increasing numbers of students with autism and hearing impairments.

Strategies for Goal 2
  • Teachers and staff working with autism spectrum students will receive annual staff development and support


  • Teachers and staff will be offered training in American Sign Language

  • The knowledge and skill level of paraprofessional staff providing support services to students with disabilities will be increased.

  • 3 Reading One-to-One aides will become certified as Reading One-to-One tutors
  •    ( Goal met in February)
  • •  All paraprofessional staff will be trained as Reading One-to-One tutors
  •     (Goal met in June)
  • •   All paraprofessional staff will receive ongoing training in inclusion

  • The participation of students with disabilities in post-secondary options will increase by 2% annually

  • The transition teacher will continue to work with students to develop their post-secondary goals.

The Culminating Project

Career Based Project
  • Eighth Grade:
  •    Students take a career education course and complete a career interest inventory


  • • Ninth Grade:
  •    Students declare a career objective.  They conduct research on the career and submit a report

"Tenth Grade"
  • Tenth Grade:
  •    Students complete ten hours of job      shadowing in three different areas of their chosen field
  • •  Eleventh Grade:
  •    Students update their career objectives. They develop resumes and cover letters and participate in mock interviews

"Twelfth Grade"
  • Twelfth Grade:
  •    Students complete a project related to their career objective.  They complete another ten hours of job shadowing and a minimum of two post-secondary investigations.  Finally, they submit their project as a digital portfolio.
